Question: “Menopause and skin problems”

Hey Mads.

Thank you for all your mails with great tips and guides. I’m 49 years old and in what we call menopause. It has made my skin on the face, next to my nose and cheeks, become full of skin problems like like pimples and impurities! It really annoys me, because it has only become worse.

I take vitamins, drink plenty of water and cleanse my skin with Clarins cleansing tonic! It has always been good for my face and it does not dry my skin! I sleep 8 hours a night, I only drink about 4/5 cups of coffee a day, I do not smoke (though I have smoked earlier) and I do not use much makeup, just a little powder.

What can I do to get the ugly “pimples” and impurities to disappear?

Lots of love

Bettina

Answer to: “Menopause and skin problems”

Hi Bettina

It makes me so glad, that you follow my newsletters! :)

And of cause, I will gladly try to help you get rid of your pimples and impurities. However, let me just start by saying that it is quite normal to experience outbreaks during menopause. The body’s hormonal balance change during menopause, and this change a lot of things… During menopause your body is under a really big pressure – and it’s precisely the hormonal imbalance during menopause that create all the problems.

One of the problems that many people experience are outbreaks of pimples and impurities. A problem that can be very frustrating. Sweating and mood swings can also be caused by menopause… And I really understand, why it is so frustrating having pimples all over the face, where everyone can see the problems. It’s really not what you want to be bothered by at the age of 49.

First of all, I would like to say that it is super nice that you eat vitamins and you do not drink large amounts of coffee. The 4 – 5 cups you get during the day are quite fine – but it could be a good idea if you didn’t drink coffee in the afternoon. Then you will get a even better sleep. And apropos sleep, it’s great to hear that you focus on getting your 8 hours of sleep – sleep is really important.

You do not mention anything about exercise or your diet – so I will just allow myself to give you some advice. You should try to exercise 2 – 3 times a week, and it would be really great, if you really get you pulse and sweat going – both in regards to menopause, but especially if you want to get rid of your pimples and impurities. As you exercise, your blood is cleansed and a lot of waste products in the body is cleansed and removed. It does not have to be in a fitness center and it doesn’t have yo be crazy exercises! A high-speed walk is just as good – but focus on getting you pulse going for 30 minutes, 2-3 times a week.

And a healthy diet is equally important. Make sure to minimize your intake of cow’s milk and dairy-products, as milk is one of the only food shown to cause pimples and impurities. Focus on eating lots of vegetables and it would also be great if you get fish 2-3 times a week.

Next, I would recommend you to look into the Danish Skin Care skin care series! It is specially developed for the treatment of pimples and unclean skin based on the knowledge studies and research has proven to work. At the same time, Danish Skin Care is a simple 3-step routine consisting of 4 products that you use to clean and treat your skin in the morning and evening.

Morning:
Perfect Skin Face Wash: Wash the face with water, foam the product into the hands and wash the face. Rinse with plenty of water and dry the face dry.

Perfect Skin Day Protector: Day cream with sunscreen that is extremely important to making the skin calm, so it can combat problems, thus helping itself to protect itself from the sun’s harmful rays – the sun’s rays account for 70% of our skin problems, so the sun factor is extremely important! Together, the product is filled with good ingredients and vitamins for the skin.

Evening:
Perfect Skin Face Wash: Wash the face with water, foam the product into the hands and wash the face. Rinse with plenty of water and dry the face dry.

Perfect Skin Power Treat: A daily exfoliation, which is distributed in the face with a cotton pad after using Perfect Skin Face Wash. Leave the product on the face overnight. A daily exfoliation is highly effective to keep skin healthy and vital – and daily help the skin to get rid of dead skin cells and keep our pores clean. At the same time, the product is filled with deep-cleansing ingredients and soothing ingredients that help keep your skin clean and relaxed.

Perfect Skin Moisturizer: The night cream, like the day cream, is filled with good ingredients (just without sunscreen) which will help protect and rebuild the skin.

Regarding the creams, it’s important to choose a cream for your own skin type – If you have a tendency to have oily skin, you should choose: normal to oily skin. If you tend to have dry skin, choose: Normal to dry skin.

A skin care kit from Danish Skin Care has a life span of approx. 3 months, so the products last a long time – and the best thing is that they are incredibly easy to use. You don’t need eye creams, masks, spot-treatments, skin-tonic etc – you get all the care you need in the series. E.g. just use the face cream, as your eye cream and masks, spot-treatments and skin-tonic are “built-in” into the series.

In relation to your vitamins, I would also recommend you a mineral called – Zinc. Unfortunately, not all pharmacies have this, but it is brilliant to repair the skin and fight your pimples and impurities.

Also, you should obviously chose vitamins made specifically for women in menopause – and your vitamins should contain plenty of iron, as well as vitamin C.

I would strongly advise you to check my guides on treating pimples – here you get further advice on what you should eat eat, and what you should definitely not eat. And you of cause get a more thorough description of why you get pimples and how you can fight pimples.

I hope I have answered your question – otherwise you can always write me again. I would really like to help you! Menopause does not necessarily mean skin problems! And all skin problems can be treated! :-)
