Question: “Stress and acne”

Hi Mads,

I’m 18 years old and have never suffered from acne, apart from a simple blemish every once in a while. But lately, it has just gone crazy and my skin is actually hurting.

At least, I think it’s bad compared to what I’ve been used to before, and even if I don’t pick at it, I still get red spots from my blemishes.

I went to the doctor and got a prescription for some crème and it helped in the beginning, but now it doesn’t help anymore.

It’s worst on my cheeks. I’ve thought if it could be acne stress? Or maybe it’s because if used cleansing products before, that were too harsh? But why doesn’t it get better? And yes, what can I do myself with products? Because I really don’t know anything about it, since I haven’t had the problem before?????

Hope you can help me!

Answer to: “Stress and acne”

Dear Marie,

Thank you so much for your question!

Acne can certainly appear as a result of stress, since stress in your body can release a lot of hormones. And hormones can be the cause of acne.

Too harsh/irritating can definitely also cause an acne breakout. If your skin is irritated, the sebaceous glands in your skin will start to produce more tallow and so it will make acne worse.

Considering your blemishes, I would recommend you to read my Cure for Acne, where I will tell you about all the things that you can do to treat your acne and which products to use.

Good luck with your cure!
