Skin-care products for adult acne

Acne or pimples is something that most people associate with teens, and the vast majority of people experience having pimples through their teens.

This is due to hormones; the main cause of acne is hormonal imbalance. This explains why women may experience acne during menstrual periods, and especially during and immediately after pregnancy.

The teenge years are characterized by large hormonal activity.

Between the ages of 20 and 25 hormones calm down again. Girls become women and boys become men.

The stabilization of hormones explains why many find that pimples disappear with the end of the teen years.

It is also enormously frustrating if you are in the 20s, 30s and 40s and still must contend with acne.

It is more and more common for adults to suffer from acne. Itโ€™s actually become so normal that the problem has gotten its own name in the skin-care industry: adult acne.

Adult acne

Up to the age of 40,ย  3% of men and 5% of women continue to struggle with the pimples they never got rid of after their teenage years.

In addition, many adults, due to various reasons, will develop acne again.

The causes are mainly the result of our lifestyle today, and the reasons have multiplied in recent decades. Among others, they are pollution, stress, hormonal disorders, and so on.

Causes of acne in adults

There may be hormonal changes, if:

  • You are exposed to stress
  • You are pregnant or get an abortion
  • You have menstruation
  • You suffer from example PCO
  • You are taking certain medicines, including corticosteroids and anabolic steroids

Additionally, you can also get acne by:

  • Using oily cosmetics and creams
  • Sunbathing and tanning
  • Irritation from perfumes, dyes, and irritating ingredients in detergents, skin care, and the like
  • Changes in metabolism, because of, among other things, sudden large amounts of sugar, fat, and the like.
  • Friction on the skin, including scrubbing grains, tight clothing, etc.

No difference in acne in teenagers and adults

Acne is NOT a skin disease that is age-related. Teens are affected more often, but acne is NOT unusual in adults.

What also is certain is that neither adults nor teenager should have to put up with acne, pimples, or impure skin!

It must be emphasized that adult acne is no different from acne in the teens. The treatment is the same. The reason is the same. The frustration is the same.

Treatment of Acne

Acne is not due to poor hygiene! Impure skin is a very misleading word, despite that it is often used in relation to acne.

Acne can be called pimples, whiteheads, bumpy skin, blackheads, unstable skin, and adult acne.

You probably know many more names for the skin disorder โ€“ probably some even less flattering names. The proper term for the skin disorder is โ€œacne vulgaris.โ€

A skin condition, no matter what itโ€™s called or the age of the person affected, requires the same treatment.

Never use harsh skin care products. Never use scrubbing treatments and deep cleansing!

As with teenagers, the treatment of acne in adults should be mild and gentle, using a combination of many different ingredients that are effective against pimples, for the best result.
