Question: “Cleansing product for acne”

I’m a 30 year old woman, I come from England, I never had blemishes when I was a teenager. I’ve always had baby skin, but now I’ve started having blemishes.

Recently, I received redap crème from my dermatologist. But I’m not sure if it’s helping.

Can you please give me some advice on how I should cleanse my skin and what kind of cleansing crème and face crème that I should use? And face mask. Thanks!!

Thank you so much for your letter and your interest in my knowledge on acne and blemishes.

Acne and blemishes has nothing to do with age. Everyone can get acne; some only have it in their teens and others will have it later in life, some will have it at different times and some will never have it. Life style, hormones and skincare can have great influence on the development of blemishes.

When choosing a skincare product for acne and blemishes, it is important to choose a mild cleansing product without any irritating ingredients. And you should also use a crème containing Benzoyl Peroxide, which is the best acne-killing ingredient. The crème should also contain peeling ingredients, like for example AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) or BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid), which will help with the rejection of dead skin cells.

When choosing a mask, I would recommend you to avoid that, since a lot of masks for acne on the market contain ingredients that are way too irritating for the skin, which will only provoke more blemishes to appear – it is far better to treat the skin with mild products on a daily basis rather than giving the skin an overhaul once in a while.
