Question: โ€œSkin exfoliation and fighting unclean skinโ€

Hey Mads

My skin is very grey, sad and boring. I have very dry skin with skin flakes that shells off the skin here and here. And my skin is very unclean – I do not suffer from acne, but I have always had dirty pores, blackheads and a little pimples.

Its especially on my arms and legs I’m suffering from dry and annoying skin. I do not want to go around in skirts and cloth with short sleeves. But also in my face I think I might need to refresh my skin.

I used to use a scrub cream earlier. I’ve also tried to use a glove for the body, like I’ve tried different scrub creams and peelings. I think that it has helped but my skin always become very red – maybe I’m just doing it too violently.

And I don’t think I’m seeing any results for a very long time.

So my question is: Is it good to scrub your skin? And how often do you have to scrub the skin to have a nice skin.

I would also be really happy if you would come up with some suggestions for a effective skin treatment so I can have a nice skin. And get rid of my dry and annoying skin.

Looking forward to hearing you answers.

Answer to: โ€œSkin exfoliation and fighting unclean skinโ€

Hello Line

Of cause I would like to help you! And, Iโ€™d like to give you a guide on how to best exfoliate your skin โ€“ and ensure that you get a nice uniform skin.

Exfoliation is a somewhat confusing thing โ€“ and its not made easier by the skincare industry, which uses scrubbing, peeling and exfoliating.

In addition, and to make the confusion even bigger, I can add chemical exfoliation and mechanical exfoliation.

Just as I can mention depth cleansing and cosmetic depth cleansing.

Even for scrubbing, peeling, exfoliating, chemical exfoliation, mechanical exfoliation and cosmetic depth cleansing, however, the goal is to help the skin remove dead skin cells from the skin and ensure the skin is nice, smooth and even โ€“ without any impurities, pimples, blemishes etc.

So they all try to give the same result, but there is just a lot of different solutions. Otherwise, or perhaps more accurately, many different fine and beautiful words, to describe more or less the same.

Before I give you the perfect guide to best care for your skin and make your skin beautiful, let me just start by telling you a little more about what exfoliation is and what exfoliation can do for your skin.

And let me just say that I prefer to use the word exfoliation โ€“ from the English word exfoliant โ€“ as I think that this word best describes the right solution that we return to further down.

WHAT IS EXFOLIATION? AND WHAT CAN IT DO FOR YOUR SKIN?

Exfoliation is a really good and very important tool for keeping your skin clean, nice and soft.

But there are actually a lot more beneficial benefits from exfoliation, the most significant of which is a cleaner skin. Skin exfoliation can also help keep your skin โ€œyoungโ€, smooth, firm and nice.

In addition, the really good exfoliation can also help remove scars and other skin damage, as well as a good exfoliation can help remove pigment damage and redness in the skin and make the skinโ€™s color more uniform.

Another really beneficial effect of exfoliation is that it makes the skin much more susceptible and open to subsequent treatment. Exfoliation can, in other words, make your skin care products even better because the skin is open and perfectly cleaned and your skin care products can thus easily penetrate the skin and help the skin.

This is also one of the reasons why exfoliating is so good at preventing pimples, acne and blackheads. While a good exfoliation will both help to remove impurities and pimples in the skin, the right exfoliation also works so that subsequent skin care products work better.

Exfoliation is really good for the skin! If you are just using the right method to exfoliate the skin, so that your skin is exfoliated correctly.

But itโ€™s really important that you use the right exfoliation! Just as a amazing exfoliation may be, the opposite goes for the wrong exfoliation, those a NOT amazing!

In fact, the wrong exfoliation can directly delay or obstruct the effect you want. The wrong exfoliation, peeling and scrubbing can actually cause multiple outbreaks of pimples, more impurities and a bad exfoliation can actually make the skin red, irritate and destroy the skin.

In general, exfoliation, peeling and scrubbing can be divided into two categories โ€“ chemical exfoliation and mechanical exfoliation.

You should ALWAYS stay away from the mechanical exfoliation! Mechanical exfoliation is really not good for the skin!

Let me try to describe what mechanical exfoliation is:

MECHANICAL EXFOLIATION

Mechanical exfoliation can be recognized and categorized by the method of the treatment. Mechanical exfoliation requires your help. You must be the engine and do the work.

With mechanical peeling, the dead skin cells are manually scrubbed with a abrasive. Examples of mechanical exfoliation include a salt glow, body scrub, sugar, coffee grounds, or skin brushing. Scrubs typically contain gentle abrasives, such as jojoba beads. Scrubbers can also contain grated apricot kernels, like scrub products for mechanical exfoliation of the skin can contain small plastic beads or plastic stones.

A more aggressive approach to mechanical exfoliation is microdermabrasion, which comes in three types โ€“ crystal, crystal-free and diamond-tip.
Most home-made body scrubs or smart home-made scrub creams and scrub products are very often mechanical exfoliation, mechanical scrubbing, mechanical peeling โ€“ in short, mechanical where you have to do the work.

Maybe you have tried to take coffee grounds and scrubbed your body with it. Perhaps you have tried to make a homemade scrub by mixing salt with olive oil. Or maybe youโ€™ve tried the really simple method and used a scrubber, a scrub mushroom or the like in an attempt to be good at your skin and remove dead skin cells.

PLEASE, DONโ€™T DO IT!

Mechanical exfoliation does much more damage to the skin. Even though you may feel your skin becomes softer and you really remove a lot of old skin.

To simplify mechanical exfoliation, this kind of exfoliation can be described briefly by macroscopic exfoliation is a process where you physically scratch and scrub and work the dead skin cells off your skin.

This method is not recommended if you have nice skin and is not something you should use frequently. It is a really violent treatment of the skin โ€“ even though the skin may feel cleaner afterwards.

In extension, I have to point out that the many new modern scrub brushes and automatic cleansing brushes that rotates around on the face. This is also a mechanical exfoliation and should really be avoided!

WHY IS MECHANICAL EXFOLIATION SO BAD?

I can hardly allow myself to sit and discourage you from using mechanical exfoliation without giving you my arguments.

There really are a lot of bad things about mechanical exfoliation! To start, I can mention that one of the biggest causes of pimples, unclean skin and acne is irritation of the skin. Additionally, there is also friction of the skin.

And mechanical exfoliation is just that, friction of the skin. You massage brushes or stones around on your face to remove the dead skin cells.

Additionally, there is a huge risk of making small scratches in the skin when you do mechanical skin exfoliation. It goes without saying that when you use coffee grounds, apricot stones or the like, you will get scratches on your skin โ€“ thatโ€™s just the point with mechanical exfoliation. The problem is just that these small scratches in the skin will subsequently have to heel, which requires the skinโ€™s focus and energy โ€“ rather than solving other problems.

The small scratches in the skin also make the skin โ€“ until they are gone โ€“ far more susceptible to new problems. After a mechanical exfoliation your skins deeper layers is directly open and susceptible to the outside surroundings.

In addition, mechanical peeling is very harsh for the skinโ€™s collagen and connective tissue. Mechanical exfoliation can, in other words, cause wrinkles.

And there are many more bad things to say about mechanical exfoliation, but I think youโ€™ve understood the point. Mechanical exfoliation is not the way forward!

And let me quickly jump to the treatment opposite of mechanical exfoliation โ€“ and approach the really good exfoliation that will help give you a beautiful skin.

Opposite mechanical exfoliation, where we have to do the work, we find chemical exfoliation.

It almost lies in the name that chemical exfoliation uses chemistry. You must no longer do the work โ€“ the chemical exfoliation does it by itself.

However, with chemical exfoliation there are some bad and some good, so just allow me to elaborate chemical exfoliation:

CHEMICAL EXFOLIATION

Chemical exfoliation contains chemistry, which may seem scary.

I have also met a lot of people who do not understand how chemistry can do exactly the same as scrubbing the skin with abrasive grains, as done with a mechanical exfoliation.

Let me start by saying that chemical exfoliation is nothing to fear. On the contrary!

And let me also conclude that chemical exfoliation can be a little more effective than mechanical exfoliation. Chemical exfoliation uses oxygen, which gently removes the dead skin cells from the skin โ€“ completely without scrubbing, rubbing or anything else to make the product work.

Although chemical exfoliation uses oxygen to remove unclean skin and make the skin beautiful, thereโ€™s really nothing to fear in terms of chemical exfoliation.

Of course, there are acids which are not good for chemical exfoliation. Exactly like there are many acids that are too harsh on the skin (even when used for chemical exfoliation).

I would like to talk about the acids that are particularly helpful in the fight against unclean skin and, in particular, acne, just as I will only mention the acids that have a good exfoliating effect on the skin.

Generally, the acids I want to talk about can be divided intoย AHA and BHA. Thus, products containing Alphahydroxy Acids (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) are good for unclean skin, blackheads and acne as they work by giving a gentle and sensitive treatment of the skin. Research has shown that both Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) also have excellent qualities for removing acne, unclean skin, blackheads and pimples.

Note the words โ€œgentleโ€ and โ€œsensitiveโ€ in particular. Both Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) are gentle and sensitive to the skin, which is SUPER GOOD! Especially in relation to unclean skin, pimples and acne โ€“ as I mentioned earlier that skin irritation is really one of the major causes of pimples.

And while both Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) are really sensitive and good at removing and preventing pimples, unclean skin and acne, they also have all the other good qualities we want.

They are good at removing dead skin cells, good at smoothing the skin, and good at removing scars.

However, I would like to emphasize that Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) โ€“ also called salicylic acid โ€“ has a number of benefits that AHA does not have.

Salicylic acidย has exactly the same properties as AHA, but nevertheless it distinguishes it self. Salicylic acid does, in addition to exfoliating the skinโ€™s surface, a extremely good cleansing of the deeper layers of the skin. Salicylic acid is fat-soluble and can thus penetrate into the skinโ€™s pores and exfoliate the skinโ€™s deeper skin layers gently.

You may notice that AHA exfoliates the skinโ€™s surface, where BHA exfoliates both the skinโ€™s surface and the deeper layers of the skin.

Thus, salicylic acid exfoliates the skin from both sides and is thus more effective. This also allows you to lower the concentration of the acid quite a bit. Where an AHA has to be 7%, in order to have an effect on the skin, salicylic acid can settle for only 2%.

It is a fairly large reduction in the needed acid, which makes salicylic acid VERY sensitive to the skin. But the effect on the surface is exactly the same, you only irritate the skin less + salicylic acid also exfoliates the deeper layers of the skin.

So salicylic acid is really far better than AHA acid.

In continuation, without this being one sided praise of BHA acid, it can be added that salicylic acid is also soothing to the skin. No other acid has the same properties of salicylic acid. So salicylic acid is quite unique because it can exfoliate the skin while at the same time soothe the skin, eliminate redness and reduce irritation.

Okay! Maybe Iโ€™m praising salicylic acid a little, but salicylic acid is seriously my absolute favourite acid for treating the skin. Itโ€™s really just brilliant!

For us who produce skin care, salicylic acid is VERY hard to work with. Salicylic acid only works optimally at a pH of exactly 3.64 + and it is quite difficult to get to work with other ingredients. However, salicylic acid is definitely my favorite skin care ingredient.

I LOVE IT!

And Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ll really love to use salicylic acid on your skin as well.

Or closer, you will love the result. And you wont feel when you use salicylic acid in your head. That is one of the fine things about chemical peeling. You just smear it on your face and it works on your skin without you noticing it, but believe me it works!

And you will LOVE the result.

Therefore, I would strongly advise you to always choose products with salicylic acid for exfoliation.

There really is no better ingredient for removing dull, gray and sad skin. Salicylic acid is brilliant to exfoliate the skin and give you a beautiful, uniform skin.

My productย Perfect Skin Power Treatย contains salicylic acid. Perfect Skin Power Treat is developed as a daily exfoliation so you can use the product every single day. You can use the product on your face, but you can also use Perfect Skin Power Treat on the rest of the body.

And of course, the product is at the right pH value of 3.64 โ€“ so the salicylic acid in my product works best.

Withย Perfect Skin Power Treat, I also managed to add a number of other really good ingredients in the product that your skin will enjoy. THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD EXFOLIATE YOUR SKIN

On a final note I would like telling you why we really should exfoliate the skin every day. I do not think I have mentioned this earlier. Besides, that I have been telling you that it is good for the skin.

The skin itself is a very interesting mechanism that is designed to take care of itself and be incredibly tough. However, the world has developed in such a way that the skin is daily influenced by an ocean of different external factors. These factors make the skin clogged.

Overall, one can say that our environment and the things we eat have a negative influence on how our skin acts and it may therefore be necessary to help the skin.

And it is just a matter of helping and supporting the skinโ€™s natural process, as we do with exfoliation.

Exfoliation therefore helps the skin in its own natural process of removing dead skin cells and the skins natural healing process so you will be left with a wonderfully clean and soft result.
