Question: “Should you use Tea Tree Oil and Benzoyl Peroxide 5% against pimples?”
Hi Mads.
I use all the products from Danish Skin Care, and have done it for two years now. I just have to say that the products are amazing, but I still feel a bit bothered with skin problem sometimes.
That’s why I beside the facial cleanser and skintonic, also use Tea Tree Oil and sometimes benzoyl peroxide cream, after I have cleaned my face at night.
However, I have often thought about whether it’s good a good routine for my skin! Does it actually help against pimples, or am I actually creating more skin problems and pimples?
I really hope you can help me! :)
Greetings Alma
Answer to: “Should you use Tea Tree Oil and Benzoyl Peroxide 5% against pimples?”
Hi Alma
It is great to hear that you are already in full swing with my skincare series Danish Skin Care – and that you are happy with the products. I really understand that you would like the remaining pimples to quickly disappear. And I will certainly try to help you get rid of the last impurities and pimples! :)
As you occasionally use cream with benzoyl peroxide cream and also Tea Tree Oil, I will just quickly say that it really isn’t good for your skin. First of all, I basically never recommend the use of Tea Tree Oil as it really is harsh ingredient – and there is a really high risk of developing allergies.
The biggest reason I want to discourage you from using Tea Tree Oil and benzoyl peroxide cream – or as you write that you “sometimes use benzoyl peroxide cream” – it is that you should never use either benzoyl peroxide cream, Tea Tree Oil or anything else for that matter “Sometimes”, “occasionally” or “in a short period of time”.
Now I’m not a fan of Tea Tree Oil, so please let us just stick to benzoyl peroxide cream! :-D
Benzoyl peroxide cream is a really fine product to use with the Danish Skin Care series – but if you chose to use benzoyl peroxide cream, then you should really use it EVERY DAY. And not just when you think your skin is especially bothered by pimples or when you just seem to have more pimples.
Using benzoyl peroxide cream as a spot treatment, is the wrong way to use the product! And if you use it this way, then benzoyl peroxide cream has absolutely no effect, in fact, it is almost the opposite.
Benzoyl peroxide cream is a drug that you can buy in the pharmacy, so you should think about benzoyl peroxide cream as a product you use for a period of time and then you stop.

The correct way to use benzoyl peroxide cream is to use a product with 5% benzoyl peroxide every day for 2 – 3 months – and then stop!
It is therefore wrong to use benzoyl peroxide cream for only 3 – 5 days and it is wrong to use benzoyl peroxide cream for a single day – but worst of all, is using benzoyl peroxide cream as spot treatment on some pimples.
Benzoyl peroxide cream penetrates into the skin and works with pimples inside the skin. It is a treatment that takes two to three months before you will see a visible result. So benzoyl peroxide cream does not work as a spot treatment product, it will only worsen you skin problems if you use it this way!

So my advice to you is to use benzoyl peroxide cream with 5% benzoyl peroxide for 2 – 3 months every single day – follow the routine below – just remember stop after 2 – 3 months.
Morning:
– Perfect Skin Face Wash: A cleansing product that gently and efficiently removes dirt, grease and sweat. Wash the face (possibly under the shower), foam a little product into the hands and rub it in. Rinse with plenty of water and pat dry the face.
– Perfect Skin Power Treat: A daily exfoliation that will effectively remove dead skin cells from your skin, thereby helping to smooth out bumps, wrinkles and remove discolourations / pigment changes. At the same time, the product has a really good effect against pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. The product is both calming, deep-cleansing and sedative. Use the product by dripping it on a a cotton pad (or in the palm of your hand) and rub it on the face.
Perfect Skin Day Protection: A day cream filled with good vitamins and minerals that will help to rebuild and protect the skin throughout the day. UVA / UVB filter.
Evening:
– Perfect Skin Face Wash: A cleansing product that gently and efficiently removes dirt, grease and sweat. Wash the face (possibly under the shower), foam a little product into the hands and rub it in. Rinse with plenty of water and pat dry the face.
– Perfect Skin Moisturizer: A night cream filled with good vitamins and minerals that will help to rebuild and protect your skin all night – and really boost your skin.
– Benzoyl peroxide cream: Wait 2-3 minutes after the Night Cream has soaked into the skin and then smear a thin layer of benzoyl peroxide cream all over the face – even though you only have skin problems on the chin. It should be the entire face, except for the lips and eyes :)
After 2 – 3 months of treatment, STOP using benzoyl peroxide cream and then use Perfect Skin Power Treat in the evening.
It is also important to point out that it must be benzoyl peroxide cream with 5% benzoyl peroxide. I know that the pharmacy also has products with 10% benzoyl peroxide, but it is both too harsh for the skin and will cause greater damage to your skin. Harsher and agressive treatments are rarely good! In fact, in research and testing it has shown that 5% benzoyl peroxide provides the quickest and best results. So it is certainly not “inferior” to use 5% benzoyl peroxide – on the contrary, it is actually best to use benzoyl peroxide cream with 5% benzoyl peroxide! :-)
I hope this was an answer to your question regarding a slightly more effective fight against pimples and unclean skin! Otherwise just write to me again and I will try to guide you even more. :-D
